Karin Hiebert recently has been honored with writing under the title of Canada Hair Salons, Spa and Beauty Division on Examiner.com. This is the second title that Examiner had invited Karin Hiebert to write under.
The first title Winnipeg Domestic Violence and Abuse (Family and Parenting) was her first invitation to write as a journalist, columnist in an area which Karin is experienced in.

Karin Hiebert opened her first successful hair salon at the age of 19 years old, in Winnipeg, Canada. Karin has won countless hair competition awards, and was named one of North Americans top hair cutters by REDBOOK magazine. Karin’s first Gold Medal National Award was presented to her at the N.C.H.C.A. -National Canadian Hair Stylists and Cosmetologist Association within her first year as a professional hair stylist; this marked the beginning of her own success and assisting salon owners and stylists to achieve their goals in this rapid changing, and exciting industry. Addicted to Competing
Karin Hiebert has been in the hair styling industry since the age of 16, opening one of her first successful hair salon’s in Winnipeg at 19.
After winning her first hair cutting and styling award: The Manitoba Provincial Championship in Hair Cutting and Styling in May of 75′, -Karin became slightly addicted to the high of success, and ‘winning.’
The roller coaster ride, of highs and lows naturally exist when entering into this type of “business” -The Hair biz is nothing short of amazing, in and of itself.
Karin’s experiences are wildly interesting, unique and bizarre to say the least- a page turner in the life of a hair stylist who contributes much of her successes as a result of the side effects associated with being a survivor.
Karin’s personal experiences of domestic violence abuse, and the heinous sex crimes committed against her as a child and as an adult led Karin into a life of perfectionism, peer approval and a desire for recognition was a motivating factor in her life successes.
At present Karin is writing her first non-fiction book which shares how she survived, and exactly what she did to help herself and others, in recreating and regaining control over what is often a chaotic life.

Karin Hiebert: Successes in Hair
At 19, Karin won her first Canadian Championship in 76′ where was awarded the N.C.H.C.A. Canadian Gold Medal.
Karin competed in Dusseldorf, Germany at the Hair Olympic World Championships placing in the Top 10 in the individual category representing Canada.
After numerous wins, in Men’s hair cutting and styling, in women’s hair cutting and styling as well as the provincial championships to include the elegant evening hair styling category, fantasy hair, avant- garde hair styling- Karin Hiebert was then nominated in the first ever Canadian Hairstylist of The Year Awards in Toronto as one of Canada’s top stylists.
With the prestigious award wins including the mayor’s trophy for highest combined scores and perfect scores in both men’s and women’s cutting under her belt- Karin earned the respect of her fellow peers and began coaching and training other Winnipeg hairstylists to achieve great successes in competitions and hair salon management.
Karin attended Vidal Sassoon Academy of Advanced Cutting and Hairstyling in San Fransisco, where she learned the fine art of precision hair cutting.
Team Trainer, Coach and Manager for The Canadian Men’s Olympic Team
Karin Hiebert along with Sam Caci, a former co-worker and elite stylist also from Winnipeg: both nominated and elected to train coach and manage the Canadian Men’s Olympic Hair Styling team representing Canada in Rotterdam.
Published in Redbook magazine as one of Canada’s top hair cutters, and with a long list of celebrity clients including Kelly Preston, John Travolta, actors, models, musicians, and NHL hockey players- to list a just few high profile celebrity clients.
Karin’s experience and knowledge of the hair business and customer service is top of the line.
Dale Carnegie trained in human relations and communication skills, Karin is also a public speaker and had created one of Winnipeg’s most memorable hair shows and platform work by the name of “Fashion Reaction”
